UEFA Nations League semi-final preview, team news

odds, picks, predictions: Soccer expert reveals UEFA Nations League best bets for Wednesday 6 October 2021

Italy will have home field advantage and are very strong on defense. With both teams being without key attackers and Spain already lacking bite in attack the Azzurri’s back line could make the difference. Captain Giorgio Chiellini’s leadership in the back is unique and along with Leo Bonucci makes best central defense couple in the world. The defense went 11 games without allowing a goal before the Euro Round of 16 and hasn’t yielded more than one goal in an official match since 2017.  Furthermore, Italy has posted consecutive clean sheets, against Lithuania and Switzerland.

The attack will miss striker Ciro Immobile, but Moise Kean scored twice in the rout of Lithuania. Federico Chiesa, who scored the goal in the matchup against Spain at Euro 2020, and Lorenzo Insigne also are among those who could trouble the Spain defense. The midfield is led by UEFA Player of the Year and Ballon d’Or candidate Jorginho, Nicola Barella, Marco Verratti and Manuel Locatelli.

On the other hand Spain dominates possession with its midfield of Sergio Busquets, Koke and Pedri. Ferran Torres and Mikel Oyarzabal are able scoring options with striker Alvaro Morata out with injury.

Belgium  vs France ➡  ➡  2-3

League of nations football: Norway Vs Romania,  Austria vs Norway  and Spain vs Germany will be among the highlights of the League Phase of the 2020/21 UEFA Nations League after the draw was made in Amsterdam on Tuesday 3rd March 2020.

What is League of Nations ?

In order to improve the quality of international football and reduce the number of irrelevant friendlies, UEFA has invented a new format to add enjoyment and competition to country battles.

Teams

This is a new international football tournament with 55 European nations competing in four leagues.

How will it work?

There are55 teams involved, split into four leagues (A, B, C and D) based on their UEFA ranking at the end of the 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.

Within those four leagues, teams will be split again into groups, which will be made up of either three or four teams.

Within each league, four teams will be promoted at the end of the cycle, while four teams will be relegated. They will then play at their new level in the next competition, which starts in 2021.

The winners of the four groups in League A will qualify for the Final Four competition.
