Belgium team

Belgium won 5-2 against Tunisia on Saturday and is already qualified for Round of 16.

Now Belgium will play England on Thursday to decide the Group G winner. Head coach Roberto Martinez might rest some stars players like  Romeo Lukaku  limping off with an ankle injury early in the second-half against Tunisia.

Group G Outcome Winner and what happens if England and Belgium draw?

  • Both teams that are possible world cup winners are qualified and have identical records in 2 games.
  • If the game will finish draw then the first criteria will be goal difference, however, this would not produce a winner in group G as both teams have the same goal difference 8-2;
  • The next tiebreaker is Fair Play points (i.e. the amount of yellow and red cards accumulated by a team during the group stage. At the moment, England have two yellow cards and Belgium three, which means they current top Group G by this criteria.
  • If even the Fair Play flops to give a winner in Group G, then the last criteria will be drawing.

The winner of Group G  will have a probable  quarter-final against Brazil or Germany, while the team coming second would likely be given a tie against Mexico or Switzerland in the last eight – a significantly more favorable scheme.
